About the lab

Business understanding.
Hands-on building.

Sarah-Jane Kavanagh is the founder of The AI Business Lab and CPD On Demand. Her work combines practical AI implementation, marketing and professional education, with experience across agencies, associations and the built environment.

That experience informs a straightforward approach: understand the job, choose a useful place to start and build around the people who will use the result.

The projects in the lab include own products, business tools and personal builds. They explore different questions, from making specialist knowledge easier to use to designing voice experiences with clear limits.

What guides the work

Useful beats impressive.

Start with the business need.

The goal might be less administration, easier access to information or a new product. The technology should serve that goal, not define it.

Make the work tangible.

A defined workflow, a working system or a testable prototype gives you something concrete to evaluate and improve.

Design for the people using it.

A tool needs to fit the way people work. Clear instructions, appropriate review and sensible limits matter as much as the interface.

Be clear about what comes next.

Scope, costs, responsibilities and dependencies should be discussed before work starts. A prototype is not automatically a production system.

Industry knowledge, not an industry limit

A broad range of
useful starting points.

Our experience includes agencies, associations, building product businesses and design practices. That provides useful context, but the services are not limited to those sectors.

If your work depends on knowledge, repeated processes or information moving between people and systems, there may be a practical opportunity to explore.
